2017 National Advocacy Trip Set
The annual Field to the Hill Washington D.C. trip has been set for May 23-25.
Florida Farm Bureau members have the opportunity to travel to the nation’s capital to meet with legislative leaders on issues that impact agriculture at the local county level.
The annual advocacy trip is a chance for farmers and ranchers to share their personal stories and experiences with congressional members to help them understand how agriculture is affected.
Past participant Jeb Smith of Putnam/St. Johns County said that being able to travel to D.C. for the Field to the Hill Trip is an invaluable member benefit.
“Being able to travel with the Florida Farm Bureau delegation and visit with Senate and Congressional offices gives us the opportunity to make a real difference,” said Smith. He says that one of the most beneficial parts of the trip is being able to meet his elected officials in their own working environment. “When I see them in Washington D.C., it is impressive to them. They have come to visit me where I live and work, and now I have taken time to visit them where they live and work.”
Some of the priority issues farmers and ranchers will discuss this year include immigration reform and regulatory reform.
