Join Florida Farm Bureau in Tallahassee for 2017 Legislative Days

benefits-slide-2With the start of the New Year, the 2017 legislative session is just around the corner. This year, the legislative session will begin on Tuesday, March 7 and run for 60 days through May 5. As we have mentioned before, there will be many changes within the Legislature this upcoming year.

In addition to newly renovated Senate chambers, half of the Florida Senate will be new as we welcome 20 new state Senators to Tallahassee in 2017. More than one-third of the House will be newly elected members as well.

With all of the fresh faces representing Floridians in Tallahassee and with new House and Senate leadership (House Speaker Richard Corcoran and Senate President Joe Negron), there is no better year for Florida Farm Bureau and our members to travel to Tallahassee to advocate in support of our 2017 legislative agenda and the issues affecting Florida agriculture.

We need as many of our members as possible to join us at the state Capitol for Legislative Days as possible, educating legislators and meeting with legislative staff to discuss the importance of agriculture and the issues and challenges facing the farm families.

Legislative Days will be held the first week of the 2017 legislative session: Tuesday, March 7 and Wednesday, March 8. The event will begin on Tuesday evening with an open house reception at Florida Farm Bureau’s new legislative office in Tallahassee. On Wednesday morning, we will host a briefing breakfast, going over Farm Bureau’s legislative agenda and other important legislative issues before members go to the Capitol to meet with their elected officials. The day will conclude with our annual “Taste of Florida Agriculture” reception in the Capitol Courtyard between the Old Capitol and New Capitol.

This year’s Legislative Days events will be free of charge, but we are asking members to register their attendance with us, so we can help improve the experience of our members in Tallahassee and maximize the potential reach of our organization. All members who pre-register will be entered into a drawing for prizes.

We look forward to seeing all of you in Tallahassee on March 7-8.
