Water Troughs Can Spread E. Coli
Cornell University researchers have reported a study that shows a link between water troughs on farms and the spread of E. coli through beef cattle.
Led by a veterinary college faculty member, the team found evidence showing fluctuations in the degree of risk. The pathogen was more prevalent during summer months when the temperature increased and the animals drank more water. The researchers conducted trials in a feedlot over the course of two years to compile the results.
Changing water in the troughs frequently may be the best solution for the problem. For more about the study, click here.
