Advocating at the Capitol

Every year, our members have the opportunity to travel to the state Capitol to tell their stories directly to their elected officials. Stories about the many challenges facing the farming community or stories about how they personally invest in the protection and improvement of natural resources. Members also have the ability to offer solutions that will improve and strengthen agriculture over the years to come, or find common ground with those that may disagree.

Florida Farm Bureau’s Legislative Days is an annual event that allows our members a rare opportunity to educate state lawmakers, Capitol staff and the general public about the importance of agriculture and the role family farms play in feeding the world and being good stewards of the environment.

This year, Farm Bureau’s Legislative Days will be held March 5-6, beginning with a Member Welcome Reception on Tuesday, March 5 at the Florida Farm Bureau Federation Legislative Office Building in Tallahassee. On Wednesday, March 6, members can attend the Legislative Briefing Breakfast to prepare them for their trip to Capitol where they will advocate in support of Farm Bureau’s legislative agenda. Legislative Days will conclude that evening with the “Taste of Florida Agriculture” Reception in the Capitol Courtyard.

Members are encouraged to register in advance. Registration allows members to receive talking points on priority issues and up-to-date event notices

Legislative Days is an opportunity for Florida Farm Bureau and its members to celebrate the diversity of Florida agriculture, promote the importance of farm families and speak directly to the state’s elected officials about production agriculture.  We look forward to sharing agriculture’s story in Tallahassee.
